Information: Open Educational Resources

What distinguishes the courses in the different categories from one another?

The restricted area contains courses that are used in various projects and (cooperation) offers. These courses are linked to a booking and are not open for free self-enrollment. Sharing or reusing the content is only permitted with the permission of the author.
The courses in the freely accessible area may be used by all registered users, but sharing or reuse is only permitted with the permission of the author. These courses are released for open self-enrollment, you do not have to register for a course. A special sub-area of the freely accessible courses are the open educational ressources.

In the area of Open Educational Resources (OER), the courses are provided with a CC license. This regulates use without the need for an agreement between the author and user. The authors determine the conditions under which their works may be shared, modified and used. You are therefore not only free to attend these courses, you may also use them under certain conditions.

What licenses are available?

The Creative Commons licenses function like a modular system, whereby the meaning of the licenses is symbolized with icons. The four symbols are:

Symbol

Meaning

  Symbole der CC By Lizenz

BY = Attribtion

   Symbole der CC BY SA Lizenz

SA = Share Alike

   Symbole der CC BY NC Lizenz

NC = Non-Commercial

  Symbole der CC BY ND Lizenz

ND = No Derivates

The combination of these four components results in six licenses, which can be supplemented by the CC0 designation. The conditions of use associated with the various CC licenses can be seen in the graphic (only in german):

 What is OER?

Materials marked CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA are also referred to as OER materials. The abbreviation OER stands for Open Educational Resources and means "freely available educational materials". These materials can be used, edited and redistributed free of charge. The other CC licenses restrict usability and therefore do not fully comply with the OER concept.

OER materials on the open learning platform

You can find the materials from us that you can reuse as OER by sorting them accordingly or by searching for the tag OER. If you have any questions about the further use of this content or would like to make material available on the open learning platform as OER yourself, please contact us.
